Hi
has anyone else been experiencing issues with certain English banks just not allowing Australian charges to their cards no matter what? Just seems to have started happening and now 60% of our English customers are having to try two or even 3 cards before we can get the transaction through

Hi,

I'm English so I think I may be able to help you with this one mate, at least I think I understand what you're getting at. Here in the UK we have several debit cards that can be used in the same way that you would use a credit card, namely Switch, Electron & Solo. However these are not supported in terms of making purchases in countries other than the UK - only one debit card in the UK supports this as far as I know, which is the Visa Delta card. I may be wrong, but I think that might be what your problem is.

nope I know about the country specific ones (Discover in the US and bankcard in Australia are the same deal)
This is Visa/Mastercards where the issuing banks are rejecting all transactions from asia/pacific.

Hi

Solo/Delta/Switch cards can have the VISA logo on them - But they are still debit (not credit) cards - I think this is what Ian was refering to.

They may only work in the UK - even though they have the VISA logo!
