Hi,
We've been running for a while now, and have found that when we update our site, we drop into obscurity in Google until it re-indexes us (once every 10 days or so), at which point we get back up to where we were a few days later. However, few days after this, it's back into obscurity again. Does anybody have any idea what Google likes when it comes to updates? Whether it likes frequent updates of every page, very few updates at all, just new pages to be added every few days, or what? Considering it's where we derive most of our sales from, it's frustrating playing the hokey pokey with it all year (in, out, in, out...). Thanks

Google has just done a massive update of page rank followed by a link update. in this period of time i usually find that strange things happen. I have a few websites up and running. and i just the other day for my fishing tackle shop site. I had 8 pages indexed in the top 10 rankings (8 out of the top 10 were mine) for one of my major keywords.

On another site of mine (www.online-shop.com.au) ...this is a directory site. strange things also happened. I was number one for major keywords like mobile phone ringtones, american express credit cards and others. Which generally shouldnt be the case. Such major keywords like this. i shouldnt have even had a ranking...

However once the updates are completed everything goes back to the appropriate spot. this is generally called the google dance..

As far as updating your site. Google loves content. Updates and additional pages are good. the more your site changes the more google comes back to your site.

Know this thread is about five months old, though I thought I would post some info myself.

I agree with Ocean, it happens to everyone. Also, not only just to stores, forums get hit like it as well.

I have both, and Google has just done another rampant with their crawlers. I noticed that one pages are constantly kept up-to-date and quite regularly, Google loves it!

In a nutshell you keep your site updated and your SEO optimized then you will do very well.

Being in the same field as you Sexy Toy Box....It is a VERY, competitive industry.
