View Full Version : Postage Calculations

I use the Australia Post option for calculating freight. This works OK most of the time but not for small things that can fit into an envelope.
For instance I have horse themed greeting cards that the system works out as a minimum of $4.80 postage. That is with the weight as 0.01. This is crazy as no one would pay $4.80 for postage of one card. The way I get around it is to put the weight at 0.00 and charge no postage. However if someone happens to order 50 cards I am stuffed.
The system thinks everything is a parcel. Shouldn't there be some way of choosing whether something should be calculated as a parcel or envelope?

Hi Robyn

Unfortunatly Australia Post's calculator is for parcels only. They dont give us the option of asking for letter prices.

We are going to add the ability for you to specify pre paid satchels however.

That would be great David.
Will that be in the next version release?

What postage calculation method are people using successfully?
I have a variety of products of different weights and sizes so I don't know which way to go. I am currently using the Aust Post DRC but it seems a bit hit & miss for the little things especially.
Could a few people tell me what they do?
