Currently my site, http://www.petshop-online.com.au , is getting an average of 200 unique visitors and 800 page views per day which i am not really happy with. Just wondering how many visitors other Ezimerchant sites are getting and what they are doing in order to achieve this.

This may help me and others to drive more traffic to our sites.

So post up and share some ideas!!

700-800 uniques per day 4000 - 5000 page views per day hits 42,000 - 53,0000 per day

The more pages you make with good SEO the more traffic you will get. the more pages indexed in the search engines the more you will get.

Also i notice you are not using catalogue marketing with clixgalore. Sign up with the clixgalore datafeed in the ezimerchant control panel and submit the feed url to clixgalore and you will find good results from this then also.

Write articles and submit to article directories with your link in the article to build your link popularity. use PPC advertising such as google adwords. If you are new to PPC advertising and not sure what keywords are profitable here is a link to one of the pages on one of my sites where you can get some help FREE EBOOK - GOOGLE ADWORDS MADE EASY BY BRAD CALLEN (http://www.online-shop.com.au/free_keyword_ebook.htm) a good tool to use is keyword elite for finding profitable keywords

get as many quality links in your nieche as you can.
Join pet forums and put your website in the signature. This is a great way to get traffic.

Look for directories and submit your link to them, if you can find a directory that is specific to your nieche...then this is even better for seo purposes.

This is only just a few of the many things that can be done to achieve better traffic. But it is pretty simple really.. if you build it they will come.! Then just add some good SEO and your on your way.

Do you have google sitemap enabled in the datafeed?

That would be the first port of call followed by submission to dmoz IMO :)

Yes Google site map is enabled, and im in the dmoz directories. Google has 99% of my pages indexed.

I have tried the google adwords campains but found i was having to pay way too much on specific keywords to be in the top 4 and the conversion rate wasnt justifying the spend. I also spend a few hours each day posting in various forums with my site details in the Signiature.

I also have an email database which i email to. Which begs another question how often is too often for sending out emails?

How long has the site been up? It takes time to build up a reputation/customer base.

I would say once a month emails.

In regards to adwords and bidding on specific products you should never bid on specific keywords such as pet, pet food, pet shop. these will probably cost in excess of $0.50 to a few $$ per click and are not profitable.

You need to find key words that will convert well. I used to be in the pet industry until recently so I am familiar with a lot of the products, suppliers and brands.

I would try google adwords for keywords like suggestions below and in phrase ("keyword" ) or exact match ( [keyword] ) do not use if can be helped broad match as if you use broad match for an item such as the phrase aquarium ornaments online your result will show for aquarium ornaments online and probably as well as aquarium ornaments, aquarium, ornaments, online, and you probably get my drift. you dont want people clicking on the ad if they are searching for household ornaments and they see your add showing.

some good raw suggestions could be :

Kongs Aqua one canister filter
Aqua one hang on filter
Pet pacific pet products
pet pacific aquarium accessories
aristopet bird food
aristopet bird treatment
Resun Airpumps
Resun fish tank heaters
Jager fish tank heater
aquatopia heater
aquatopia ornaments
bayfish aquarium accessories
Aqua One H100 Hang On Filter

These are only just a few of the thousands of possible keyword combinations you could be using. and you will find that they should have a cost of about $0.05 per click or atleast a low cost.

also profitable keywords are often also miss-spelled keywords
Like Pte shop online
pet acessories
buy aqarium ornaments
aqua ne canister filter

the list can really be thousands of keywords.
Some may work, some may not.
you need to let your campaigns run and filter the keywords that are not performing. also another little secret if a key word has a low click through rate put it in a different add group because the higer your click through rate is the higer you will go in the results and the lower your ads will cost.

You really should have heaps of different add groups
such as an add group called for example
Aqua one heaters as one ad group
Aqua one filters as another ad group
Aqua one ornaments as another.
and put the keywords relative to the ad groups in place

Then set a different dispay ad for each and only go to the deep direct URL. If you put the landing page as the home page then you have already lost! you need to go straight to the point.

Put up a good display ad such as lets use the ad group Aqua one heaters.
you must make the add descriptive, straight to the point and in a way that people will want to click on it over your competetors.

Title: Buy Aqua One heaters Cheap
Line1: Fish tank heaters all under $30. Save money
line 2: on fish tank heaters before we sell out

an example of a bad ad would be
Title: Online Pet Shop
Line1: Large range of Aquarium & Pet Products
line 2: Delivered to your door Australia wide..

I could really go into huge detail but then i would be here for hours.
I hope i have provided some help to you atleast. and ultimitately it is all trial and error and you will need to filter the keywords that are costing too much and not converting as they appear evident over time.

For more info I would suggest the adwords made easy keyword ebook by brad callen available on my site here: FREE EBOOK - GOOGLE ADWORDS MADE EASY BY BRAD CALLEN (http://www.online-shop.com.au/free_keyword_ebook.htm) I can also put you onto (if interested) a piece of software that also legally allows you to spy on your adwords competion and allows you to find out every single keyword they are bidding on. the software is designed mostly for other purposes of promoting affiliate products and spying on the competion to out do them but you can also use the tool to just spy on your adwords competition for your site. more info on this software here (http://oceanstorm.bryxen9.hop.clickbank.net/) (you need to scroll down till you get to the section titled Unfair Advantage #1 & Unfair Advantage #2 and click the video image. this will show you just how powerful the tool is.
