For freight, I noticed that ezimerchant lets you put a base charge, interstate charge and international charge. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume the interstate charge is a surcharge added if the buyer is outside your state. My question is ... what happens for shops that have offices in more than 1 state? We have shops in VIC and NSW. Therefore, I only want to put an interstate charge for items outside these 2 states. Is that possible?

Also, how does ezimerchant know what state I am from? Is this from the registration information?

ezimerchant gets your location from your registration details (Country, State, Postcode)

The base charges in the freight settings are not state specific..

You can set a local base charge - local being your state.
You can set a domestic base charge - for all other states.
and you can set an international base charge - for International orders.

You cannot set state specific charges.

Of course, all of this is irrelevant if you use the Australia Post DRC calculator to calculate frieght prices as it uses weight and post codes to work out accurate frieght prices.
