Hi
I'm still building our site and am confused about the difference between meta-tags and keywords.
I'm also unsure about the difference between the global keywords/metatags and those entered for each category and subcategory in an Ezimerchant site.
Can someone please enlighten me - or perhaps direct me to some useful information??

Hi
Definition (thanks to Google)
<b>Meta Tag</b>
An HTML tag that must appear in the header portion of the page. Meta tags supply information about the page but do not affect its display. "Generator" is a common meta-tag used to specify which editor created the page.

What you need to know about meta tags: (by me!) :-P
MetaTags are a collection of information embedded into a HTML document (in the head section) to help search engines rank your page. (thats all you need to know really!)
Meta Tags can be:
Keywords, description and other descriptive information such as who built the site, who holds copywright etc etc.
Search engines use the 'Keywords' and 'Description' metatags to help rank/index your site.
In ezimerchant Pro there is a GLOBAL section - ezimerchant Pro will use the details you enter in here on ALL all pages on your web site, except where you seperatly specify them in the 'edit products and categories' section.
We reccommend you fill in the global section with terms that relate to your site in general (for example: Homebrew, Baking Bread)
and we also reccommend getting more specific in the other sections - Say for example 'coopers ale, morgans larger etc etc' - in the relevant categories.

I find this site useful: http://www.bruceclay.com/web_rank.htm and Googles own information is very useful. http://www.google.com/webmasters/
