Can I remove product code column?

I would like to remove 'product code' column from shopping cart. I went to Edit shopping cart/columns, but there is no option to remove 'product code'. Is it necessary to use product codes?

Unfortunatly it cannot be removed.

From what I have read Product No is even more important in V4 so maybe you should consider creating a numbering system - naming your product images same as product no is also a good idea (ie cca100.jpg and cca100t.jpg - t being thumbnail)
