I have noticed that many sites do not add the 10% GST to the selling price. This may be fine if all the sales go overseas, but surely there must be some sales within Australia, so how is the GST handled?

Its really up to the merchant to setup the tax how they would like - BUT, we reccommend they set up the tax so that the GST inclusive price is displayed by default. (this is the ATO requirement).

The end visitor will have the choice of displaying either price.

Regardless of which price is displayed the customer will be charged the tax if they are in Australia and wont be charged the tax if they are outside of Australia.

See www.countrybrewer.com.au for an example of how the tax should be setup. (this is the default in ezimerchant)

THIS MAY HAVE BEEN SAID PREVIOUSLY...but is there a way of putting prices in inclusive of GST when adding products? Calculating the pre GST price is often difficult and doesn't round up correctly on the site when GST added.

No

ezimerchant Pro only accepts the ex tax price

That's what I mean..can it be EITHER ex tax or incl tax to make it easier?

Hi Paul

If your talking about the data entry of product prices into ezimerchant Pro then no, it only allows you to enter the ex tax price.

ezimerchant Pro adds the tax amount (for GST that would be 10%) to the price for Australian customers and displays that amount on the website.
