Hi Tess
I would concentrate on Google - the biggest search engine, used by more people that any other.
After that I would reccommend www.yahoo.com.au

Hi Paul
To use Google do you have to purchase clicks and how expensive is it?
Thanks Tess

Hi Tess
You can submit your site to Google for free at http://www.google.com/addurl
This will let Google know that you exist. It takes about 6 weeks for them to get around to looking at your site and ranking it.
Due to you being a young site you will be penalised for upto 6 months (i.e you wont rank as high as old sites).
You can get hits to your site NOW however by paying for them. Look at http://www.google.com.au/ads/products.html and choose the adwords option.
Its a controllable expence (i.e you dictate how much your willing to spend). Worth while for new sites to get a start.
