We are launching an on-line store and want a real time payment gateway/merchant account. Should we look for a merchant account that comes with a payment gateway or visa versa? The question really is do we need technical support once we go live from the merchant account or from the payment gateway. We looked into VeriSign and the PayFlow Link seems good, but it does not offer telephone technical support. Because of this fact shoud we not use that service?

If you are using ezimerchant for your online store and you want real time transactions then you must choose one of the payment gateways that ezimerchant supports (Netregistry, eway etc)
Once you have chosen a gatway they can help you obtain the necessary merchant account from your bank. Both eway and Netregistry offer phone support as far as im aware.
