Pick Up as a purchase option

Good idea.

Just further to this, in order to avoid scams, I would make a point that all pick ups will be required to present the credit card used in purchase as verification.

they need not enter card details, just like a COD order just get notified of the order and put a custom message saying goods will be held for 7 days or whatever. Payment then made with signature etc as per an in store sale

We have discussed a Pick Up option with our development team.

Its not as simple to add this Payment method as it would first seem.

Feedback from our merchants suggest that if a customer was to choose the 'Pick Up' option then the GTS checkout should NOT charge any freight.

Currently payment methods (credit card, cheque, money order, direct deposit etc etc) do NOT affect either the total price or freight prices.

So, adding Pick Up option would require some major work on the GTS to get it to remove freight costs from the cart.

We have added the 'Pick Up' option to ezimerchant in 3.8.8 however it is not be able to remove freight values from the shopping cart (if any). So its use will be limited to merchants who either dont charge freight or those who wish to charge freight even though the order will be picked up.
