We have a problem with customers not using drop down lists correctly.
we often sell products in either white or grey. We have found that some customers neglected to make a selection and we had to swap from white to grey (white being 1st on the drop down list being automatically selected). To overcome this problem, we have made all 1st line entries and subsequent lines similar to:
Line 1: Please select from list below
line 2: White
line 3 : Grey
we still have a problem with customers not selecting and the order coming through with the default 1st line 'Please select from list below'(at least letting us know the customer is required to provide further detail).
What I would like if possible, is to make the 1st line an invalid selection for the customer and pop up an error when they attempt to add to cart, so that they are forced to make a correct selection. I noticed I can do just this in frontpage when making our order forms - also allows us to ensure details are submitted in required fields
