Making the product code searchable with the search page and search engines without putting the codes in the description as well

sorry, i'll just add to that comment
This is definetely my number one request over anything else - so many of the products we sell are known worldwide by the part number stamped onto them, and searched for due to this, that i wish i'd added all codes into descriptions from the start had i known the code wasn't spidered.
with close to 2000 products i'm not willing to do that if you guys can make the product code searchable - please !

Hi Adrian

We can make the search page use the product code as well as name and description - This much we can achieve, however this does not make the product codes 'spidered' - If you want the product codes to be included in Natural Search engines results (Google, Yahoo etc) then you will need to include them as content on the page - There is two ways of doing this.

1. Including the product code in the description as mentioned before.
2. Adding a tag called <#prodcode> to your brief product style - which will include the product code on the page whereever you put the tag in the style (I would reccommend you put it below the description tag so it appears just below the description of the product OR to the right of the product name)

Please see your theme designer for help in including this in your brief and detailed product style.

thanks David - will add the tag rather than 2000 individual modifications!
However i'd like to see the code capable of being searched so that it does not require retetion on the page looking a little odd. i know i could remove the code from display at the start, but i think its important that its there.
can this be made to work in version 4 ?

that'd be repetition!
