Hi there all... I know this isn't the right place for the post - but couldn't figure out where to put it... feel free to move it if need be.

I'm wondering what everyone is using for there postage? Currently, we are using Australia Post - the 500gram (~$5) and Up to 3kg (~$9) pre paid satchels. We also give the option of express (prepaid satchels) or registered post. I've started looking at courier companies and the like - we've had a few parcels gone missing, and would love to have every parcel trackable. I'm also getting so sick of going to the post office every day - would love for them to come pick them up!

We are looking at Fastways couriers and Australia Post's eParcel service. Neither has gotten back to me with prices yet, so I thought I'd ask the wider community - what are you using? Is it working?

We use Express Post - you can buy them in packs of 10 and you receive a discount. A pack of 3kg Express Post satchel ends up costing about $9 ea. Express Post satchels, aside from being quick, are also traceable and come with insurance to the value of $50

Once you become a busines charge account hold other options open to you as well.

Also, you can purchase pre paid registered post labels which cost $2.50 ea when purchased in bulk with allow parcels to be tracked.

we use fastway couriers extensively - they cover a very broad range of locations for the majority of the population of Australia - the goods are automatically insured without additional expense (pretty sure couriers please is uninsured) they have 3 and 5kg satchels that will go practically to every destination at the set price, boxes vary in cost dependant on your location and the destination, as does delivery time eg Yeppoon to Sydney - red label, 2 days, Yeppoon to Perth - green label, 5+ days, some remote and outlying areas (and even some close to major cities) are not serviced but an on forwarding company is used - thats when it becomes more expensive and when we normally resort to Aust post, because we too have recently had multiple delivery stuff ups or non delivery with aust post. Fastway have damaged 1 item and lost 1 item - both covered by insurance without argument, and thats out of thousands of parcels sent. downside - you prepurchase labels - local, red, orange, 3kg satchels, 5kg satchels in bulk - 10-20 labels per block, therefore the initial purchase of them runs into a few hundred to get you going - but well worth it and cheaper than express post by miles.
their website will give you all the info you need on coupon cost/satchel cost for your location - sometimes it varies, as well as an indication of cost to each destination. Fast locator on the site allows you to put your location and destination into it to determine correct cost/availability of freight - i'v efound them excellent to deal with, and although not as fast as aust post express, cheaper, and come to the door.

We use a combo of Aust Post eParcel and Australian Air Express. We used to use AP for all parcels but poor service and long delivery times made us look into using a courier. We still use AP for all parcels under 500g as you can't beat their price, with eParcel express delivery with tracking is only $6.80. We did extensive research and found AAE to be the best all round courier for us, we only use thier prepaid 3kg and 5kg labels though.

Best points:

- Cheapest price (although there is no insurance on prepaid parcels, we have never had any parcels lost or damaged yet so it's no big deal)
- Prepaid parcels can be sent in satchels or boxes as long as it cubes/weighs under allowance
- Offered us the best cubic conversion rate
- Will pick up even if you only have 1 parcel

and the biggest plus by far is they deliver to PO Boxes. Lots of customers like using PO Boxes as they don't have to be there to sign for the parcel when it turns up.

They deliver overnight to most destinations in Oz, 2 days to far outback places.
