preorder buttons & customised fields

Is it at all possible to have either a buy now button or a preorder button for selected products?

Currently the 'BUY' and 'INFO' button can be selected GLOBALLY or on a PER CATEGORY basis.. Its not possible to select buttons for individual products unfortunatly.

In a different place I used to work (a long long time ago), we handled this very same problem by creating a "Coming Soon / PreOrder" category. It seemed that we got more preorders from this category, than by including the items in the normal categories.

In ezimerchant, you could create a "Coming Soon - PreOrder Now!" category, and change the buy button for the category.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, guys.

I like the idea of a pre-order category -- as I'm dealing with books that are out of print; and about to go back into print sometime in 2004/2005.
