Here's some suggestions for the next version(s):
Ability to charge a % rate on payment methods with different surcharges for different cards. Also being able to charge a surcharge for PayPal payments as they "sting" you as bad as Amex do.
Ability to log in and check orders remotely on a secure web site.
That's all .... for now!

I would love a surcharge field in the checkout also.
I wouldnt use it for credit card surcharges as i would rather loose a 1 or 2 % more on my sales than lose thousands of dollars in potential sales as most customers will not buy if there is a surcharge on payment methods (i know i would go elsewhere)
However I would love a surcharge field that you could specify the surcharges in the checkout options and have a field where the customer could add the charge manually which then is automatically added to the calculation on completion.
For Example on how it might look on the checkout page (noting that the surcharge points are editable by the merchant and not standard by ezimerchant)
Surcharges
Please add (type) the following surcharge below if applicable
1. Credit card surcharge (amex only) add $0.50
2. Pay pal surcharge add $1.00
3. Express post surcharge add $3.00
4. Bulky item freight surcharge (add if you have purchased a (eg) computer system $30.00
(Form Field) - Please enter charge as listed above if applicable - this will be then automatically calculated into your payment total.

Yeah, I could just imagine clients using that - not.
Reling on a client to add a surcharge simply doesnt work.. The original ezimerchant product relied on clients selecting the relevant freight - they ALWAYS picked the cheapest option, even if it was not relevant to them.
Unfortunatly if we are to add these features, they need to be done properly, so the checkout system selects the appropriate surcharge based on their chosen payment methods etc.
