View Full Version : A quick list (Top 11 wishes) off the top of my head...

Thought I'd share my wish list. Some of these I think I may have directly emailed to your guys a long time back however just in case the situation has changed and also to share my thoughts with others who may want similar functionality my top wish list includes:

1. Outlook integration especially now that Outlook 2003 with Business COntact Manager has been released - all CRM activities are easily handled in there. THe ezimerchant email is extremely limiting.

2. Multiple price points for different variations of the same product. ie: Select a different size and the price (and shipping) changes accordingly. Saves having to have 6 different products listed all showing the same item but in different sizes/pricing.

3. Easy copy of email address from Order information screen. If Outlook integration is not possible at least allow the copying of the email address. Its a pain to have to rewrite it each time. If you click on it to open up ezimerchant mail then you still can't get the actual address as it only displays the attached name details (And you can't right click properties or copy there either). [Edit: This has been done]

4. Ability to have custom filenames for the webcontentxx.htm (pagexx.htm) files. Once you start adding a number of new pages where you want to maintain the ezimerchant menu system on each custom content page it becomes difficult to remember what each of the webcontentxx.htm files are (Or pagexx.htm files for building).

5. Improved QuickBooks integration! I think you mentioned that you were going to remove it altogether in v4.0 in your email a while back. I strongly suggest you don't!! Quickbooks now have QuickPOS which allows direct integration. A large part of the admin is the transfer of order information into the backend financial system. We are in the Intergration age so applications must start providing integration paths with popular companion products to remain successful in the market (My personal prediction!)

6. The image resizer function is a great tool but takes about 30 clicks (exageration) to actually get a thumbnail! You obviously have the technology built in there. All is required is a simple change to the interface. Add a button "Generate Small Image" button to the right. This should automatically get the picture name from the large image tab and generate the small image as appropriate. If no large image exists open up the explorer dialog. [Edit: New image resizer interface released in v4. -Done]

7. When typing in the Product description it would be so much easier if the window pane where you review the content is the actual edit window! I know you are spawning an external editor and then showing the content stored in the database in the viewing pane however this is a pain in the neck!!

8. Multiple Freight costs depending on the how that customer wants the item sent (normal, overnight, courier) and insurance cost option.

9. Right click copy a whole product and paste as a new product underneigth to use as a starting point for a range of products that have similar details and costs. This way with a few minor changes to the description, price and the images the item is done without going to the previous item selecting each tab and copying individually. [Edit: This has been done - Its the 'set as template' feature in right click menu]

10. Ability to apply discounts/promotions on SPECIFIC categories and/or products individually.

11. What's with the rounding error? How do I get an item to be $5.00 inc GST? (Comes out $4.99 or $5.01 can't get it to $5 with the way it rounds. [Edit: This has been Fixed]

Having said all these things just to let anyone know who may be considering purchasing the product that this software is fantastic as it is and highly recommended. The implementation of one or more of the above would simply make it an even more sensational product!!

Thanks for your time.
Kind regards
Gregg

Gregg,
Great suggestions, I too support All 11 of these. These would seem to be rather simple requests and with these added, would make this program start to shine through.

Hopefully, the Research and Development guys at Ezimerchant listen to us guys on the front line and heed our requests.

I love number 9.... copy paste from one product to the next listed, or for that matter from a manufacturers web site to the description cell. You just don't know how much of a pain in the ... royal behind it is doing such repition!

and yes the external text editor window.... just like when you want to add an image just click in the image box and you can immediately add the image would be advantageous.

and what about shtml? The functionality of adding live info would be interesting, like time etc.

Hi Greg

Thanks for your feedback.

1. Outlook Business Contact Manage integration

I will look into this.. If Microsoft has done a good job of this then everyone will want to use it and it would save us a lot of time coding as well!

2. YES - Everybody wants this.. We will get to it.

3. Will be DONE in 3.8.1.

4. See your point, but it would take us a time to change the way this works, we (and im sure the majority of our clients) would prefer to spend our programmers time on #2 :-)

5. We tried this once, unfortuantly there are sooo many issues with integration that at this time its not viable. I wont go into all the technical reasons why but suffice to say its not practicle.

6. Point taken.

7. It used to be like this in early 3.5 versions, we had problems however with the content saving when the user either closes the screen or moves to another product or category. Its 'safer' to open the new window and edit in there. Unfortuantly its a programming limitation that we were not easily able to get around.

8. 3.8.1 will have a new freight method - Australia Post Freight Calculator.. But it still wont have these extra suggestions that you mentioned.. We will over time improve the freight.

9. Point taken. (many requests for this actually)

10. Point taken.

11. Rounding error problems have been resolved in 3.8.1. You can now enter EX TAX prices to 4 decimal places which makes it possible to get to a 5.00inc GST price point.

---------------------

Above I have mentioned 3.8.1 - This will be released in January 2005. Keep an eye out on our website (updates section) for details. Its in final testing stages now so it wont be long.

Thanks
David Ferguson

3.8.1 has now been released and fixes point 3 and includes the Australia Post Freight Calculator mentioned in point 8.

See our website (DOWNLOAD -> UPDATES section) for information and the update patch download.

I support all of these suggestions although I am not particularly interested in the Quickbooks feature.

The ability to copy products so that they can be put into more than one category without having to go through the whole process of creating the product again would be rally hekpful

I do all my product updates in a spreadsheet and then import it. This makes this sort of thing, and bulk updates such as exchange rate changes, very easy.

However, items deleted from the spreadsheet must be deleted manually from ezimerchant. Is there a simpler way?

No :-)

One thing I would really like to see that I imagine would be pretty simple to add is an "undo" feature in the text edit windows. Very annoying at the moment when you accidently delete something or don't like the changes you've added!

To undo editing of the text press the Esc key
