Hey,
I was just wondering if anybody else has had any problems with Safari (the browser used on Mac OSX) having difficulty displaying pages created by ezimerchant? When loading each page, it displays an error message saying "the page has content of MIME type application/x-oleobject, because you don't have a plugin installed for this mime type, the page cannot be displayed." Is the MIME application a part of every ezimerchant page, or is there a way to turn it off/avoid this message - the page partially loads, but there are lots of ? images scattered around the page. I've noticed on other ezimerchant sites that this doesn't happen when I view them with safari.

FYI I have to upload my pages using a 3rd party FTP server by uploading the "build" file, as my PC's grumpy at the moment.

Cheers, Andrew

Hi Andrew

Please ensure that you have at least v3.9.8p installed, and then generate and test your ezimerchant site in Safari again and advise if its then ok?

I tried to view your page when it loaded the forntpage and everytime i click on a link Etrust my antivirus pops up with the HTML/Mallar virus warning,

I suggest you check over your system, delete all the files from the website your hosting on and rebuild the site and reupload.

cheers

huh?

I think you had better check your PC! Our server and ezimerchant.com website are fine.

I'm running the most up to date version (only bought it a few weeks ago, thats why the sites still in its semi-template half-built stages), although the version of safari is about a year old. However my broadband has chucked it in on my pc, so my upload process now is to generate, copy the files across to my mac, and upload using ftp software. Could this perhaps be messing up the paths of particular files, or is everything needed stored in the 'build' file?

Hi

Can you please confirm the version of ezimerchant your using? In the bottom right hand corner of the main screen you should see the version number.. What is it exactly.

Sorry, I was talking about sexytoybox website not the ezimerchant site, my apologies for any confusion created on my part.

if i could post the screenshot here i would of the error i get when trying to view his website

i stand by my original claim that he has a virus, particularly that his pc is "grumpy" and that he has lost inet capability on said pc

the fact that he generates it on a possibly infected pc then transfer to his mac then upload screams at me a possible viral infection on his pc.

cheers

Why worry about Safari on Mac OS-X? Genuine users would be less than 1-2% ... I think you are worrying too much about a minority browser issue. FYI, your site works fine on Firefox on Windows XP.

I'm running 3.9.8p, but i think creeky was right it was a virus, which would explain why internet explorer didn't pick it up. I'd scanned my harddrive with about 6 different spyware/virus programs and found nothing, but Prevx1 found the lovely urdvxc.exe malware. So I've wiped the build files, wiped the files in the domain, should work now. Although to bjs1965, I think its a bit more than 1-2% of the market with safari, but frankly 1-2% of a pretty big market is a lot of lots potential money. Thanks

Ok more on the virus topic, it seems to be hiding files in the ezimerchant themes because it knows that I use them.
I just wanted to check that files with seemingly random (to me) names such as "behnsxjk" (in theme 45) should be present in the themes - quite sure that they should be, but must be careful. Also, I'm presuming that any .exe files that appear in the build##### file should be killed?

There should never be exe files in the build folder :-)

And not sure what you mean by random names in the theme folder? But if they are files with names like that - kill them!

Further to my last post.

Now would be a good time to visit the microsoft update website and download ALL the windows updates that are available, including IE7 and all the other stuff thats available.

Keeping your PC uptodate is extremly important in preventing virus and malware.

On that note, if anyone else ever finds application files in any of their folders (the virus puts randomly named, 8 letter apps, like usyxdld in all files with html files in them) that are 76-77kB, delete them all. In the space of a few days, this doozy can stick thousands of them all over your computer. Its called urdvxc, and with a little luck it wont bother any other ezimerchant users now :)

You can also use spybot search and destroy for a free but good program to hunt down nasties. Also a free version of Grisoft might be the go. Don't forget that some viruses shutdown anti-virus programs if they get a chance to. I had a similar virus as you, creating hundreds of files with random characters, took ages to remove them all.
