Hi there,
We're (still) building our site, in the final stages of it now, but have decided to process credit card payments through paypal instead of the banks (the transaction fees on a business that is new, online only AND adult related are astonishing, and if anyone's considering applying with Commonwealth Bank, save your time). Anyway, I was just wondering what exactly customers SEE when they go to pay by paypal - I've heard that ezimerc is integrated with it, so does that mean that you fill in all the details on the GTS and it just sends them to PayPal where customers get a confirmation page, or does it simply link them through to the payments page on paypal itself? If this is a messy question to answer, I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer a link to their store where they use paypal for CC payments so I could have a squiz myself? Cheers! :)

Hi, from memory I applied to Paypal, which is an instant acceptance, but had to activate my account by waiting for Paypal to put in a deposit of say, $0.21, then confirming that you have recieved the deposit, and also, I think they send you something in the mail, which you also have to confirm with. When that is all done, you would have to make sure that your email address ID that you are using with Paypal is the same one when you select paypal with ezimerchant, and the rest is looked after by ezimerchant. I hope this helps!;)

Ah ok, so customers never actually get taken to the paypal site? That's great, thanks for your help!

Hi sexytoyboxaustralia
ezimerchant now has two PayPal payment methods.
1. Standard PayPal.
2. PayPal express checkout.
Both methods will require that the user sees the paypal website. The standard paypal method simply creates a 'PAYNOW' button that the customer must click on to pay for their goods. This button opens a new window and brings up a special paypal page asking them to pay money into your paypal account.
The PayPal express checkout method allows the client to log into paypal immediatly after proceeding to the checkout, the paypal screen will appear, they can select their delivery address etc and they approve the payment and then they are retured to our normal checkout process to confirm the order.

oh ok thanks. well it turns out that paypal doesn't actually accept the sale of adult products, they just dont tell you until you sign up, so we're going with Paymate instead (and running out of options...). It's a shame that they see the site though, because frankly Paymate doesn't look very polished.
Thanks for clearing that up though

hi sextoyboxaustralia
Just to add to your woes Paymate also do not allow there service to be used for adult products sales either.
I used both paypal and paymate on my adult related site for aprox 3 years unaware i shouldnt have been, before they both found out and then put a stop on my accounts.Paypal advised i had to remove the offending products from my site ,yet after being unable to get them to tell me exactly which products they were referring to i gave up and removed the option.
I have recently seen on another site that they claim that customers are able to purchase adult products using these payment methods.but not adult movies.so the merchant declines orders for adult movies using these payment methods..
Whether this self regulation is acceptable to paypal and paymate im not sure,i was going to make enquiries on this issue myself soon.
I have found that orders were minimal using these payment types, and personally believe you really need to have merchant facilities to satisfy most customers.(certainly this is my experience anyway)
Gaining a merchant account for online adult store is yet another challenge that isnt easy.
