How do I delete a gift voucher that I have created? Also, once I have created one, how do I see it's ID number and can I edit the amount?
The reason I want to know is that I also do tradestands at horse shows and gift vouchers are available for customers to purchase. I want to be able to create a few gift vouchers in Ezimerchant then type the ID number onto a paper gift voucher. The customer can then redeem their voucher on my website at a later date.

Thanks

Robyn

Hi Robyn

There is a Cancel button in the Gift Vouchers section - if you select an active gift voucher and hit Cancel it will cancel it for you.

You cannot edit a gift voucher once its created.

Yes, however you need Version 4. Just go into the promotions section, click ADD and add your new promotion (and promotion code)

I was just testing this feature and after using a gift voucher ($200) code to pay off a $40 sale I was still being asked for a method of payment despite the system agreeing total payable was $0.00

Have I done something wrong?

Its a bug.. Basically if the order total is 0.00 the system shouldnt ask for payment. However, if you enable the NO PAYMENT REQUIRED payment method in ezimerchant, it will get around this problem perfectly, as it will display a NO PAYMENT REQUIRED payment method - when the order is $0.00.

Still on the voucher topic, how do we fix the freight component if someone orders a Gift Voucher? We have a freight system set up depending on the value of the order - what do we do about it charging freight on a Gift Voucher order?

The gift voucher system in ezimerchant is not designed to 'sell' gift vouchers. Its designed so that you can manually create and distribute them.

If you create a product that happens to be a gift voucher it will have the exact same freight rules applied to it as all the other products would.

I just wanted to create seperate "Gift Vouchers" with different price points as products and then send them to our customers once they have ordered them through the cart.

How else would you offer a gift voucher to your customer through the shopping cart?

By what you say with the system in place it seems like the customer has to request a voucher from us - by doing this you cannot utilise payment facilities through the shopping cart? As we've streamlined every thing back through the cart we would have to manually take a payment over the phone? Or request a payment back through Paypal - is this right?

Or is there a simpler way of doing this.

hi
take a look at how we have our gift voucher page set up on our website
as freight is still applied to gift vouchers through the shopping cart you will see we have put an item there that the customer can select which has a minus value. this works well and we have sold a few gift vouchers through our cart as normal.. then once the order is placed for the voucher I email the customer a voucher with the special checkout code.
here is our gift voucher page (http://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/category1_1.htm)

Thanks for that,

I like your thinking - we would still have a hiccup as we have different freight rates so it wouldn't work that way for us unless we completely changed our freight system.

I was wanting to introduce Gift Vouchers for Christmas but it seems too complicated for the customer and us.

I was thinking further about it and was wondering if you could treat vouchers as being seperate to products in the shopping cart. This would be something that Dave Fergusson would have to look at.

If vouchers were set up as a seperate category to have the shopping cart not treat them as a product thus avoiding a freight charge.

A thought....

hmm it really is a tricky thing to program i would think

but mabbee it is possible such as in addition to the freight promotion setting a new feature for product specific could be added?

such as automatically apply ___% discount to the freight total if the following product codes are added to the shopping cart

im pretty sure that this type of configuration may be tricky but im no expert in that.

Tricky, yes, especially if customers were ordering some products and a gift voucher... can't give the freight discount off the entire total then...
I just tell customers that they won't be charged freight on gift vouchers, never been a problem yet..

If you charge freight per weight you could allocate a zero freight charge for items under 10 grams for example and have the gift vouchers only weighing 1 gram each. Still doesnt help us as we charge according to the $ value of the order - this is working the best it ever has so I really don't want to change it just yet for vouchers.

I'm still trying to work out a way to fix this.....Thanks for everyones imput so far it's a great forum for things like this.
