Compatibility of 4 upgrade with an older version to download orders

I am thinking of trying the new 4 version, I design and upload the site on my computer but the orders are downloaded on another pc running Version 3.9.8p. Will I have to upgrade both? (That pc has all old orders / customer info saved on it, will the normal back-up and re-install keep that data safe?)

Yes, you should update both.

Infact, you can update the machine that is used to download orders first if you want.. then update the machine that you maintain the site on.

I would reccommend you backup the entire ezimercpro folder before upgrading.. but the regular backup will be enough to get your data back should you want to revert to V3.x
