multiple categories

Being able to list a product in multiple categories is a great addition to v4. However, when you click on a product to get the detailed description, and then click back to return to the brief descriptions, I've noticed that it sometimes switches categories on me. Does that make sense? Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes, the detailed page will link back to the 'Home' category for the given product. We are looking at ways of addressing this as we realise it can be confusing.

It gets confusing when someone is on the detailed page, then finds that they can't get back to the categories page because the link above is different and clicking on the product title takes them to a different category.

The category link on the product detailed page links to the home category set for that product. Even though a product can be in more than one category, only one category is set as the home category. It is impossible to do anything else. The only way to work around it is to create a duplicate product in each category you want that product to appear (losing the benefit of assigning products to multiple categories).

When David originally replied to your post back in 2007, the feature was quite new. Lots of feedback and experience since then has reaffirmed that the way it is implemented is actually the best way it could possibly have been done.
